So you want to practice roaming around a map and breaking down its walls, but you don’t know how to set up a game mode that will let you do explore without getting mowed by enemies while you’re just minding your own business? Well you’ve come to the right place.
(note: all of these steps work on XBox, if you notice anything different on PC or PS, please leave a comment below)
- Open up Rainbow Six and select the icon with three horizontal buttons that takes you to the Play screen, where you select a match type.
- Select custom game
- Select local
- Select create
- Select create new playlist
- Select normal mode
- Name your playlist something helpful, like “Explore”
- Select add a match
- Scroll up toward the top and select the map you want to explore first (you can change this later very easily)
- Under game mode settings, select change settings
- Turn preparation phase duration all the way down to 15, and turn action phase duration all the way up to 600
- Save playlist (don’t add another match!)
Now you have a playlist made for exploring. To use it, go back to the Custom Game > Local > Create screen where you originally created the playlist and:
- Select your playlist
- If you want to switch the map, hit edit playlist, change the map selection, and then hit save playlist at the bottom.
- Select create as a player
- Start the game!
And you’re all set! From here you can start the game and explore to your heart’s content.
